CASPAR DAVID FRIEDRICH WALD

I graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design London in 1998. Between 2000 and 2014, I worked as a freelance textile designer for London based studios. During this time period, I have created over 1200 unique handmade textile samples, many of them sold to high end clients in the fashion industry. From 2014 onwards, I create bespoke textile samples, small to medium size wall hangings, textile installations and wearable textile art.

CASPAR DAVID FRIEDRICH WALD

I self-taught myself hand weaving in 2015, creating several woven wall art pieces and subsequently also teaching this beautiful craft at several locations in Berlin Germany. An exhibition followed at Ako Berlin, a community space and café in Prenzlauer Berg Berlin, which sadly no longer exists. This experimental series was part of my Goddess research, and an expression of an organic entity. It took me a long time to figure out how to present this series. I thank artist Emily Hunt and BAI Institute for helping me to look at silk painting with fresh eyes! Each weaving is now mounted onto silk. In contrast to the more rigid woven artwork, I added a jazzy loose automatic-drawn frame.
